Dawna Middleton | Artist | Model
Dawna was born and raised in Texas and moved to Missouri in 2003. Creating, sewing and designing have been foundations throughout her life. In her mid 20’s she began design work and textile concepts. In 2009, during her 2nd semester of college she was passionately inspired by her History of Art class. The exposure motivated a profound desire to begin creating art that was waiting to emerge. She graduated in 2013 with a degree in Graphic Design.
Within a year she was an instructor at a sip & paint studio. Just months later attempted her first portrait. She continued painting throughout the next year, absorbing advice and experience from local artist. She immersed herself into finding her own techniques of versatility within abstract, realism, and fine details of various subjects. Often projects come through visions, some are themed inspired, and others burst with mixed media of scriptures or random items. She draws inspiration from different types of artist including Jackson Pollock, Duane Hanson and the beautiful detailed work of Richard Caton Woodville.
In 2016, Dawna became an active member of Studio 55 Guild and the Springfield Regional Arts Council. Both memberships have provided a platform for many local exhibitions. She has also been accepted in juried exhibition in Springfield and St. Charles, Missouri.
In 2019, Dawna has sought to return to a dream to be a print model; one she began at the age of 17. She believes it is never too late to achieve one's goal. She also does volunteer work with the homeless community.
She plans to continue her artistic and volunteer work while also adding modeling opportunities.
Her recent photo shoot was was a great success. She believes she offers a unique look that shows beauty is ageless and aging is beautiful.
